Clinical Transport: Getting There Safely

Q: How do I know that my loved one will make it safely to the treatment center?
A: Clinical Transport assigns a clinician to transport your loved one door to door.

Once your loved one makes the decision to go to treatment, a clinician from Drew Horowitz & Associates will accompany them to the treatment center ensuring their safe arrival.

It is very common that an appropriate addiction treatment center is found in another state, or even on the other side of the country. In such a case, its important that your loved one be accompanied to ensure their safe arrival. In some cases, your loved one may waver on their commitment to go to treatment. They may also seek out drugs or alcohol along the way, risking overdose or arrest.

An experienced clinician will safely transport your loved one to a treatment center and ensure their admission.

Drew Horowitz & Associates will provide an experienced clinician of the same gender who will assist your loved one in keeping their commitment to attend a treatment program, as well as keep them focused on their goal and out of harm’s way. Our clinician will ensure safe door-to-door arrival, pick your loved one up at their residence, and even help them pack if they need it.

If the travel to the treatment center doesn’t require a flight, our clinician will personally drive them. If a flight is required, the clinician will transport them to the airport and accompany them on the flight to the destination nearest to the treatment center. Upon arrival, the clinician will walk them directly into the treatment center and assist them through the admission process.

Once your loved one has safely arrived at the treatment center, is fully checked in, and ready to begin their treatment program, our clinician will then return home. It is very rare, but if your loved one is unable to be admitted to the treatment center for any reason, we will accompany them safely back home.

What if my loved one changes their mind about treatment?

There is always a possibility that your loved one will change their mind after they have agreed to go to treatment, but before they are admitted. It’s one of the biggest reasons that we recommend clinical transport. Your loved one may argue with you, try to negotiate, or convince you not to take them. They may even try to run away.

When your loved one is transported to treatment by a Drew Horowitz & Associates clinician, we ensure that they arrive safely. Our clinicians are experienced in keeping your loved one focused and encouraged about their new life in recovery.

Your loved one will likely be nervous, especially if its their first time attending a treatment program. Our clinicians handle every fear and doubt with compassion, respect, and understanding. We’ll ensure that your loved one arrives to the treatment center and is admitted without issue.

What is relapse prevention, and how does it apply to my loved one?

Addiction isn’t “cured” during treatment. In fact, some statistics show that as many as 80% of treatment patients will relapse within five years of a treatment program.
