Minnesota Runaway Intervention Program

Teenagers run away from home for many different reasons. The likelihood of these teens experiencing homelessness after running away from home is high. Many of these youth will be exposed to traumatic situations, putting them at risk for dangerous outcomes.

Addressing these individuals’ life situations is an important step in their recovery. Whether they have been sexually abused, are struggling with mental health, or dealing with substance abuse, their needs need to be addressed.

If you’re the parent of or know a teenage runaway, contact the professional interventionists at Drew Horowitz & Associates to help get them the help they need.

Seek Help

Through helpful programs such as Minnesota’s Runaway Intervention Program (RIP), teenagers at risk for continuing to run away from home or involve themselves in risky behavior receive services needed to prevent them from continuing down a destructive path.

Programs such as RIP will help reduce the traumatic response to being victimized, improve their physical and mental health, and connect them with support groups. They will also help educate the families on their child’s needs and provide additional resources.

Through empowerment groups with trained therapists, the child will be provided a safe environment to discuss and learn about issues they’re facing, safe choices they can make, and how to avoid troublesome situations.

Sexually exploited youth will need additional medical assessment and intensive services, which include home visits, individualized case management, extensive family education support, and ongoing therapy.
