ABOUT THE TRAINING:
During this presentation, Drew Horowitz, MA, LADC, LPCC, CIP from Horowitz Health and Laura John, LICSW, LADC, LCSW, ICS, CSAC from Rogers Behavioral Health will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of working with clients in the early stages of recovery to move through the stages of change and to empower clients to stay the course. This presentation will focus on key concepts in supporting clients through the ten dimensions of substance use recovery. Participants will learn how to compassionately engage with clients, recognize ineffective behaviors, and guide clients on healthy behaviors during early recovery and beyond. Through anecdotes, best practices and experiential activities, participants will establish a base of knowledge on how to evoke change and manage highly emotional clients enduring the uncertainty of a life in successful recovery from substance use.
OBJECTIVES:
– Participants will understand the critical role of compassionate support with clients in early stages of recovery. Including an in depth look at substance use relapse and the symptoms to be aware of for intervention.
– Participants will be able to recognize debilitating behaviors and gain knowledge on approaches to guiding clients on healthy participation. – -Participants will be able to identify evidence-based intervention techniques to support positive change.
– Participants will explore the impact of behavioral health conditions on clients walking through the stages of change in substance use recovery.
– Participants will be educated on the dimesions of recovery in order to successfully guide clients through the hurdles of early recovery.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Drew Horowitz, MA, LADC, LPCC, CIP is a nationally known and well recognized clinical interventionist and therapist. Drew Horowitz brings a vast range of expertise working with and overseeing clinical teams in the behavioral health field. With over a decade of experience, he has worked with a multitude of populations providing drug & alcohol detoxification, clinical case management, individual therapy, continuing care coordination, intensive outpatient services, consultation, intervention, coaching, and mental health counseling.
Laura John, LICSW, LADC, LCSW, ICS, CSAC is a leader in behavioral health care, currently serving as the Director of Addiction Services at Rogers Behavioral Health. With more than 10 years of experience, Laura began her careers in the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections at the Drug Abuse Correctional Center where she continued to residential treatment and completed her Master’s Degree gaining experience working with domestic violence survivors, women involved with the criminal justice system, and with adolescents with mental illness. Laura has been with Rogers Behavioral Health for the past 6 years where she played a key role in launching the regional Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Partial Hospitalization program, currently serves as an instructor for the newly accredited Mental Health and Addiction Recovery academy at Rogers in partnership with Carroll College in Wisconsin and oversees Addiction Services for Rogers Behavioral Health locations and staff across the country.
